Overview
The Irondequoit Public Library is chartered by the New York State Education Department and in accordance with the laws of New York State operates under the direction of the Library Board of Trustees. There are seven trustees appointed by the Irondequoit Town Board to five-year terms. Trustees are selected for their interest in the library and its role in the community and their willingness to devote the time and effort necessary to carry out the duties of a trustee. The Library Board of Trustees has control of the expenditure of all funds in the library budget set by the town board. They work with the library director and staff in the study, evaluation, and creation of library policies and long-range plans for library service. The monthly meetings are open to the public and residents are also welcome to address the board at any meeting. Learn more about the library board members on Irondequoitlibrary.org.
