Start with Community Development to discuss your location, proposed use and project. Staff can explain the applications, inspections and board reviews that apply.

Review these items with Town staff

  1. Change of occupancy. New businesses opening in Irondequoit must file a Change of Occupancy application. Contact the Fire Marshal about the required safety inspection and occupancy review.
  2. Signs. Discuss proposed signs and permit requirements with Building.
  3. Construction and safety systems. Building changes and fire protection systems may need additional permits or inspections. Describe all planned work when you contact staff.
  4. Land use and board review. Contact Planning & Zoning to determine whether your proposal needs review by the Planning Board, Zoning Board of Appeals or Town Board.
