Black History Month – Family Book Discussion on Brown Girl Dreaming

Wednesday, February 28, 2024

Join Irondequoit Town Supervisor Andraé Evans and the Irondequoit Public Library for a family oriented, Black History Month book discussion. On Wednesday, February 28th we will host a facilitated book discussion on the 2015 Coretta Scott King Book Award winner, Brown Girl Dreaming by Jacqueline Woodson. Brown Girl Dreaming is an emotionally captivating memoir written in free verse poetry that will appeal to older elementary school children and adults alike. Woodson, an award-winning black author, recounts the joy of finding her voice through writing stories and shares what it was like to grow up in the 1960s and 1970s in both South Carolina and New York. Copies of Brown Girl Dreaming are available at the information desk at the Irondequoit Public Library, or can be reserved by calling (585) 336-6060 during open library hours. Register online at:
